The superconducting performance of the ex-situ SiC doped MgB2 monofilamentary tapes are reported. Polycrystalline powders of MgB2 doped with 5 and 10 wt% SiC were synthesized by a conventional solid-state reaction route and characterized for their superconducting performances. It was found that the superconducting parameters viz., upper critical field (Hc2), irreversibility field (Hirr) and critical current density (Jc) were improved significantly with SiC addition. It was also found that… Expand

Superconductivity of the bulk MgB(2)+nano(n)-SiC composite system: a high field magnetization study.
The results are understood on the basis of superconducting condensate (sigma band) disorder and ensuing intrinsic pining due to B-site C substitution clubbed with further external pinning due to available n-SiC/Mg(2)Si pins in the composite system. Expand

Strongly linked current flow in polycrystalline forms of the superconductor MgB2
The combined magnetization, magneto-optical, microscopy and X-ray investigations show that the supercurrent density is mostly determined by flux pinning, rather than by the grain boundary connectivity, suggesting that this new superconductor class is not compromized by weak-link problems. Expand
Mechanism of enhancement in electromagnetic properties of MgB2 by Nano SiC doping.
A comparative study of pure, SiC, and C doped MgB2 wires has revealed that the SiC doping allowed C substitution and Mg B2 formation to take place simultaneously at low temperatures, enabling us to predict desirable dopants for enhancing the performance properties of M gB2. Expand
