The subterranean ant Pyramica hexamera (Insecta, Hymenoptera, Formicidae, Myrmici- nae, Dacetini) was recorded in Okayama Prefecture for the first time. Three worker specimens were collected by using a simplified Berlese-Tullgren apparatus on the Okayama University of Science campus in Okayama City, southwestern Honshu, Japan.
