We demonstrate 14.3-attosecond timing jitter [integrated from 10 kHz to 94 MHz offset frequency] optical pulse trains from 188-MHz repetition-rate mode-locked Yb-fiber lasers. In order to minimize the timing jitter, we shorten the non-gain fiber length to shorten the pulsewidth and reduce excessive higher-order nonlinearity and nonlinear chirp in the fiber laser. The measured jitter spectrum is limited by the amplified spontaneous emission limited quantum noise in the 100 kHz-1 MHz offset…

Yoctosecond Timing Jitter Sensitivity in Tightly Synchronized Mode-Locked Ti:Sapphire Lasers

Higher sensitivity in timing jitter measurement has great importance in studies related to precise measurements. Timing jitter noise floors contribute one of the main parts in existing measurements.

1 GHz repetition rate femtosecond Yb:fiber laser for direct generation of carrier-envelope offset frequency.

A mode-locked fiber laser working at a 1 GHz fundamental repetition rate is reported, and an octave-spanning supercontinuum from 590 to 1350 nm was generated in a tapered photonic crystal fiber solely with the mode-lock fiber-laser output, without amplifiers.

1.13-GHz repetition rate, sub-femtosecond timing jitter, CNT-mode-locked ultrafast Yb:KYW laser

We show 1.13-GHz repetition rate, 0.70-fs timing jitter optical pulse train directly generated from diode-pumped, CNT-mode-locked Yb:KYW laser. The measured jitter is the lowest for GHz pulse trains,

Ultralow Timing Jitter Pulses from a SESAM Mode-locked Yb-fiber Laser

We demonstrate 199-attosecond timing jitter [10 kHz-21.25 MHz] pulses from an ultrashort SESAM mode-locked Yb-fiber laser. This timing jitter is the lowest for fiber lasers mode-locked by real

Low noise, self-referenced all polarization maintaining Ytterbium fiber laser frequency comb.

It is demonstrated for the first time the stabilization of the fceo of such a PM Yb system with an in-loop fractional frequency stability scaled to an optical frequency of low 10-19 at 1 second averaging time, offering a great potential for applications in optical atomic clock metrology.

Long-Term Stabilization of an Actively Mode-Locked Er-Doped Fiber-Ring Laser via Dynamic Intracavity Loss Feedback

We demonstrate a long-term stabilized all-fiber actively mode-locked laser (AMLL) by locking the optical pulse train to a mode locker. By dynamically controlling the bias voltage of the intracavity

Synchronous mode-locked laser network with 20$^{th}$ decimal timing precision

A synchronous mode-locked laser network incorporating two remote slave lasers at different central wavelengths and repetition rates over 4.7-km distance is reported and the standard quantum limit for the timing jitter acquired by optical pulses when traveling in fiber links is revealed.

Timing jitter minimization in soliton mode-locked fiber lasers by dispersion engineering

We searched for the minimal timing jitter condition in an all-fiber, soliton, CNT-mode-locked Er-laser by dispersion engineering. The measured lowest timing jitter is 490-attosecond [10-kHz to

Synchronous multi-color laser network with daily sub-femtosecond timing drift

A metronome synchronizing a network of pulsed-lasers operating at different center wavelengths and different repetition rates over 4.7-km distance suggests that the timing precision of the network is not limited by the synchronization technique, and so could be much further improved by developing lasers with lower inherent noise.

Measurement of absolute timing jitter of SESAM mode-locked lasers with yoctosecond sensitivity.

A novel measurement technique is developed using cross-spectrum methods in combination with a dual balanced optical cross-correlator system, with three independent low-noise mode-locked lasers, characterized with a record low noise floor.

Timing jitter optimization of mode-locked Yb-fiber lasers toward the attosecond regime.

Ultra-low timing jitter optical pulse trains from free-running, 80 MHz repetition rate, mode-locked Yb-fiber lasers and the mode-locking conditions of fiber lasers where both ultra-low time jitter and relative intensity noise can be achieved are experimentally found.

Sub-100-as timing jitter optical pulse trains from mode-locked Er-fiber lasers.

To the authors' knowledge, this result corresponds to the lowest rms timing jitter measured from any mode-locked fiber lasers so far, and agrees fairly well with the Namiki-Haus analytic model of quantum-limited timing jitters in stretched-pulse fiber lasers.

Sub-100 attosecond timing jitter from low-noise passively mode-locked solid-state laser at telecom wavelength.

There is a substantial potential for technical improvements that could make passively mode-locked DPSSL outperform fiber lasers as source of microwaves with low phase noise.

Gigahertz repetition rate, sub-femtosecond timing jitter optical pulse train directly generated from a mode-locked Yb:KYW laser.

This is the lowest-timing-jitter optical pulse train with gigahertz repetition rate ever measured and would correspond to the projected effective-number-of-bit of 17.8, which is much higher than the thermal noise limit of 50 Ω load resistance (~14 bits).

This result shows that optical pulse trains with well below a femtosecond timing jitter can be generated from a self-starting and robust all-fiber laser operating at telecom wavelength.

Mode-locked fiber laser frequency-controlled with an intracavity electro-optic modulator.

This represents what is to the authors' knowledge the first time an EOM has been introduced inside a mode-locked laser cavity for fast servo action and the lowest timing jitter reported for amode-locked fiber laser.

This work reports the synthesis of a nearly single-cycle, ultrafast optical pulse train from the coherent combination of a passively mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser and a fiber supercontinuum, which represents the first stable synthesis of few-cycle pulses from independent laser sources.

Impact of dispersion on amplitude and frequency noise in a Yb-fiber laser comb.

It is found that the laser operating at zero net-cavity dispersion has many advantages, including an approximately 100× reduction in free-running f(CEO) linewidth and frequency noise power spectral density when compared to the normal-dispersion regime.

A dispersion-mapped Yb-fiber laser with enhanced intracavity spectral breathing is demonstrated with transform-limited narrow bandwidth seed pulse for the amplifier fiber and spectral scaling is achieved by single mode fiber.
