The reaction of fullerene with N-methylglycine and benzyltriethylammonium chloride in toluene afforded N-methyl-2-phenylfulleropyrrolidine 1 and N-methyl-2-methylfulleropyrrolidine 2.The structures of products 1 and 2 were characterized by UV-Vis,FT-IR,1H NMR and MS.A possible reaction mechanism for the product formation was proposed.Benzyl carbenium ion and ethyl carbenium ion are obtained in the first step through the C-N+ bond heterolytic cleavage of benzyltriethylammonium chloride.Carbenium… Expand
