Acute and sub-chronic antihypertensive properties of Taraxacum officinale leaf (TOL) and root (TOR)

Results showed that T. officinale possesses antihypertensive effects with the aerial part most active at the used dosage which however, supports further development of the extract as a potential therapeutically useful natural anti Hypertensive agent.

ANTIOXIDANT EFFECT OF RADISH (RAPHANUS SATIVUS L.) AND LEEK (ALLIUM PORRUM L.) JUICES AGAINST HEPATOTOXICITY AND NEPHROTOXICITY INDUCED BY DIMETHOATE IN MALE ALBINO MICE

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the ameliorative effect of radish and leek (leaves and roots) juices against the damage induced by dimethoate (DM) on liver and kidney functions and

Characterization and Quantification of Major Flavonol Glycosides in Ramps (Allium tricoccum)

This work is the first to identify and quantify the major flavonol glycosides in ramps, and suggests that specifically the leaves may harbor the potentially bioactive flavonols components of the plant.

Effect of Egyptian Leek Leaf Extract Supplementation on Productive and Economic Performance of Broilers

It could be concluded that supplementation with LLE in broilers has growth-promoting effects, improved biochemical parameters, carcass quality, and promoted economic efficiency through maximizing both return and net profit.

Identification of Phenolics Profile in Freeze-Dried Apple Peel and Their Bioactivities during In Vitro Digestion and Colonic Fermentation

Freeze-dried apple peel powder (Fd-APP) was subjected to in vitro digestion and colonic fermentation to evaluate the variations in its phenolic composition, bioactivities (antioxidant activity,

Selenium and Sulfur to Produce Allium Functional Crops

The main proposal is to use Allium as specialist plants for biofortification with Se and S, considering the natural ability to accumulate both elements in different phytochemicals, which promotes the functional value of Allium.

Secondary Metabolite Profile and Pharmacological Opportunities of Lettuce Plants following Selenium and Sulfur Enhancement

Selenium (Se) is an essential trace nutrient for humans and animals owing to its role in redox regulation, thyroid hormone control factors, immunity, inflammatory reactions, brain activities, and

STUDY OF THE ANTI-HYPERLIPIDEMIC EFFECT OF THE COMBINED ADMINISTRATION OF THREE NATURAL EXTRACTS IN A POLOXAMER-407 HYPERLIPIDEMIC MODEL AND THEIR LC-ESI-MS/MS2 AND HPLC PROFILING

Objective: Dyslipidaemia is considered a high-risk factor for inducing atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). This study aims to investigate the anti-hyperlipidemic effect of the

Dietary Quercetin and Kaempferol: Bioavailability and Potential Cardiovascular-Related Bioactivity in Humans

It is possible that a lower dosage from plant sources could be effective due to of its higher bioavailability compared to the aglycone form, and studies are needed to evaluate the potential cardiovascular benefits of plants rich in quercetin and kaempferol glycoside conjugates.

Lisinopril attenuates renal oxidative injury in l-NAME-induced hypertensive rats

It is suggested that lisinopril could diminish biochemical alterations in l-NAME induced hypertensive renal damage that occurs by oxidative stress.

Hypolipidemic activity of Allium porrum L. in cholesterol-fed rabbits.

Findings indicate that this plant may be useful for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, and changes in the distribution of cholesterol in HDL or LDL were found, and LDL cholesterol decreased significantly in all of the groups treated with A. porrum extract.

The role of inflammatory markers in the cardioprotective effect of L-carnitine in L-NAME-induced hypertension.

The chronic administration of LC reduces blood pressure and attenuates the inflammatory process associated with arterial hypertension.

Cholesterol-lowering effect of garlic extracts and organosulfur compounds: human and animal studies.

The results of these studies indicate that the cholesterol-lowering effects of garlic extract, such as AGE, stem in part from inhibition of hepatic cholesterol synthesis by water-soluble sulfur compounds, especially SAC.

Feeding rats the nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, L-N(omega)nitroarginine, elevates serum triglyceride and cholesterol and lowers hepatic fatty acid oxidation.

The results suggest that the lower nitric oxide level in rats fed L-NNA leads to hyperlipidemia and that the elevation in serum triglyceride might be due to reduced fatty acid oxidation.

Comparative pharmacological investigations of Allium ursinum and Allium sativum.

In the 5-LO and CO test the garlic extracts are slightly superior to the wild garlic extracts whereas, in the TA test, no differences could be found, underline the usefulness of wild garlic as a substitute of garlic.

Effect of allicin from garlic powder on serum lipids and blood pressure in rats fed with a high cholesterol diet.

Results show that garlic is beneficial in reducing blood cholesterol, triglycerides levels and systolic blood pressure in hypercholesterolemic rats and may beneficially affect two risk factors for atherosclerosis--hyperlipidemia and hypertension.
