We present the timing and spectral studies of RX J0209.6-7427 during its rare 2019 outburst using observations with the Soft X-ray Telescope (SXT) and Large Area X-ray Proportional Counter (LAXPC) instruments on the AstroSat satellite. Pulsations having a periodicity of 9.29 s were detected for the first time by the NICER mission in the 0.2-10 keV energy band and, as reported here, by AstroSat over a broad energy band covering 0.3-80 keV. The pulsar exhibits a rapid spin-up during the outburst… Expand

A new transient ultraluminous X-ray source in NGC 7090
We report on the discovery of a new, transient ultraluminous X-ray source (ULX) in the galaxy NGC 7090. This new ULX, which we refer to as NGC 7090 ULX3, was discovered via monitoring with $Swift$Expand
AstroSat observations of the first Galactic ULX pulsar Swift J0243.6+6124
SwiftJ0243.6+6124, the first Galactic ultra-luminous X-ray pulsar, was observed during its 2017-2018 outburst with \emph{AstroSat} at both sub- and super-Eddington levels of accretionwith X-rayExpand
Science with the AstroSat Soft X-ray telescope: An overview
The Soft X-ray Telescope (SXT) aboard the AstroSat satellite is the first Indian X-ray telescope in space. It is a modest size X-ray telescope with a charge coupled device (CCD) camera in the focalExpand
Super-eddington emission from accreting, highly magnetized neutron stars with a multipolar magnetic field
• Physics
• 2021
Pulsating ultraluminous X-ray sources (PULXs) are characterized by an extremely large luminosity (>1040 erg s−1). While there is a general consensus that they host an accreting, magnetized neutronExpand
Pulsating ULXs: large pulsed fraction excludes strong beaming
• Physics
• 2020
The recent discovery of pulsating ultra-luminous X-ray sources (ULXs) shows that the apparent luminosity of accreting neutron stars (NSs) can exceed the Eddington luminosity by a factor of hundreds.Expand
X-ray emission from BH+O star binaries expected to descend from the observed galactic WR+O binaries
• Physics
• 2021
In the Milky Way, $\sim$18 Wolf-Rayet+O (WR+O) binaries are known with estimates of their stellar and orbital parameters. Whereas black hole+O (BH+O) binaries are thought to evolve from the former,Expand

NICER and Fermi GBM Observations of the First Galactic Ultraluminous X-ray Pulsar Swift J0243.6+6124.
Near the critical luminosity of L ~ 1038 erg s-1, the pulse profiles transition from single-peaked to double peaked, the pulsed fraction reaches a minimum in all energy bands, and the hardness ratios in both NICER and GBM show a turn-over to softening as the intensity increases, indicating two distinct accretion regimes.
