Cyclicity and instability inherent in the economy can manifest themselves in irregular fluctuations, including chaotic ones, which significantly reduces the accuracy of forecasting the dynamics of the economic system in the long run. We focus on an approach, associated with the identification of a deterministic endogenous mechanism of irregular fluctuations in the economy. Using of a mid-size firm model as an example, we demonstrate the use of effective analytical and numerical procedures for… Expand

The Lorenz system: hidden boundary of practical stability and the Lyapunov dimension
The difficulties and opportunities of reliable numerical analysis of chaotic dynamical systems are discussed and the Lyapunov dimension of attractors via the Pyragas time-delayed feedback control technique and the Leonov method is demonstrated. Expand
Control of chaotic dynamics in an OLG economic model
This paper deals with the control of chaotic economic motion. We show that very complicated dynamics arising, e.g., from an overlapping generations model (OLG) with production and an endogenousExpand
Finite-time Lyapunov dimension and hidden attractor of the Rabinovich system
The Rabinovich system, describing the process of interaction between waves in plasma, is considered. It is shown that the Rabinovich system can exhibit a hidden attractor in the case ofExpand
The control of chaos: theory and applications
Abstract Control of chaos refers to a process wherein a tiny perturbation is applied to a chaotic system, in order to realize a desirable (chaotic, periodic, or stationary) behavior. We review theExpand
Hidden attractors in dynamical systems
Abstract Complex dynamical systems, ranging from the climate, ecosystems to financial markets and engineering applications typically have many coexisting attractors. This property of the system isExpand
Theory of Hidden Oscillations and Stability of Control Systems
This survey discusses well-known theoretical and engineering problems in which hidden oscillations (their absence or presence and location) play an important role. Expand
Chaos control in an economic model via minimum entropy strategy
Abstract In this paper, minimum entropy algorithm for controlling chaos, is applied to a Cournot duopoly with different constant marginal costs, as a discrete-time dynamical system which showsExpand
Time-delay control for stabilization of the Shapovalov mid-size firm model
This paper proposes the application of the Pyragas' method within framework of economic models and demonstrates that suppressing chaos is capable in the Shapovalov model, using the UDFC method. Expand
Analysis of a Lorenz-Like Chaotic System by Lyapunov Functions
In this paper, we investigate the ultimate bound set and positively invariant set of a 3D Lorenz-like chaotic system, which is different from the well-known Lorenz system, Rössler system, ChenExpand
Irregular Growth Cycles
This paper uses the familiar, neoclassical theory of capital accumulation to show how complex behavior can emerge from quite simple economic structures. Indeed, when sufficient nonlinearities and aExpand
