Background: Amniotic fluid acts like a cushion and helps in growth of fetus, decrease in amniotic fluid volume may lead to increased risk of intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), meconium aspiration syndrome, severe birth asphyxia, low APGAR scores and congenital abnormities.
