Edge characterizes boundaries. If the edges of images could be identified accurately, all of the objects can be located and basic parameters such as area, perimeter and shape can be measured. This paper proposes fusion of Haar wavelet and Prewitt operator and compares its performance with frequently used gradient edge detection algorithms and canny edge detection method in different conditions.
