An enantioselective route for oxazoline 4, a key fragment toward the asymmetric synthesis of leiodelide A, is described. We synthesized northern subunit 6 through a Julia–Lythgoe olefination and subsequent Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation. Moreover, a highly diastereoselective method using well-established Evans’ asymmetric aldol condensation was developed for preparation of southern fragment 5. The additional feature of this synthetic route is the formation of oxazoline 4 through DAST… Expand
Synthesis of the C13–C29 fragment of leiodolide A: allylic asymmetric induction on the stereochemical course of iodolactonization
Abstract A stereocontrolled synthesis of the C13–C29 segment of leiodolide A is described. This natural product was isolated from the deep-water marine sponge Leiodermatium . A highly selectiveExpand
Applications of sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation in the total synthesis of natural products
Abstract Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation involves the reaction of an alkene with osmium tetroxide in the presence of a chiral quinine ligand to form an optically active vicinal diol. ThisExpand
Asymmetric Synthesis of the C15–C32 Fragment of Alotamide and Determination of the Relative Stereochemistry
Four relative possible diastereomers were constructed with a boron-mediated enantioselective aldol reaction and Julia–Kocienski olefination as the key steps and revealed the relative structure of fragment C15–C32 of alotamide. Expand
Asymmetric Total Syntheses of (-)-α-Lycorane, (-)-Zephyranthine, and Formal Synthesis of (+)-Clivonine.
An asymmetric route to (-)-α-lycorane and (-)-zephyranthine, and a formal total synthesis of (+)-clivonine were achieved, which serves as a potent precursor for the divergent syntheses of these natural products. Expand

Stereocontrolled synthesis of the C8-C22 fragment of rhizopodin.
A convergent synthesis of the central C8-C22 core of the potent macrolide antibiotic rhizopodin is reported, demonstrating the applicability of stereocontrolled approach and thiazolium catalyzed transformation in complex natural product synthesis. Expand
Stereocontrolled Total Synthesis of an Annonacin A-Type Acetogenin: Pseudoannonacin A?†
A stereocontrolled first total synthesis of a diastereomer of the presumed mono-tetrahydrofuran type acetogenin annonacin A, starting with enantiomerically pure precursors, is described. The absoluteExpand
Total synthesis of jerangolid A.
The first total synthesis of the antifungal polyketide jerangolid A has been accomplished and featured a novel application of a phosphonamide-anion based olefination and a Julia-Kocienski reaction. Expand
An efficient cis-reduction of alkyne to alkene in the presence of a vinyl iodide: stereoselective synthesis of the C22-C31 fragment of leiodolide A
Abstract Rapid and efficient reduction of alkyne bond in the presence of a vinyl iodide is established using freshly prepared Brown's P2-Ni as the catalyst, affording the semihydrogenated alkeneExpand
Total synthesis of neolaulimalide and isolaulimalide.
The first total syntheses of the potential antitumoral leads neolaulimalide (2) and isolaulimalide (3) have been achieved. Key steps in our convergent, fully stereocontrolled route are a YamaguchiExpand
An efficient method for the preparation of 3-hydroxyl-5-substituted 2-pyrrolidones and application in the divergent synthesis of (−)-preussin and its analogues
Abstract An asymmetric method to ( S , R )-α-hydroxyl-γ-amino alcohols 12 through a diastereoselective addition of Grignard reagents to β-chiral aldimines 11 is described. SubsequentExpand
Diastereoconvergent synthesis of trans-5-hydroxy-6-substituted-2-piperidinones by addition-cyclization-deprotection process.
A diastereoselective one-pot approach to access trans-5-hydroxy-6-substituted-2-piperidinones by an addition-cyclization-deprotection process has been developed, in which the stereogenic center atExpand
