1,N6-Ethenoadenine (epsilon A) and 3,N4-ethenocytosine (epsilon C) are formed when electrophilic vinyl chloride (VC) metabolites, chloroethylene oxide (CEO) or chloroacetaldehyde (CAA) react with adenine and cytosine residues in DNA.
