Substrate recognition mechanism o f soybean lipoxygenase-1 (L -l) was studied by using an entire series o f (co3Z,co6Z,co9Z)-C12~ C 22-trienoic acids and -trienols. The m axim um activity o f L-l was obtained with C20-trienoic acid o f all the substrates used. A m ong trienols, the m axi­ mum activity was obtained with C ,5-trienol.
