Abstract 1. 1. Formation and behavior of the spindle body in the neuroblast of the grasshopper, Chortophaga viridifasciata, were observed in both living and stained cells. 2. 2. The formation of the spindle body begins in the cytoplasm, and after disappearance of the nuclear membrane its further development depends principally on the nuclear substances. 3. 3.
