The cranial capacity of 527 living subjects (269 males and 268 females) between the ages of 14 – 20 years old of the Ogidi community of Anambra state of Nigeria were determined. Maximum head width was measured using spreading caliper. Auricular height was measured using auricular head spanner. Maximum head height was measured using measuring tape. Weight was measured using weighing scale. Height was measured using measuring rod in meter. The results showed the mean and standard deviation of…

Figures and Tables from this paper

A Cross-sectional Anthropometric Study of Cranial Capacity among Ukwuani People of South Nigeria.

TLDR
Cranial capacity was found to increase with age and exhibited sexual dimorphism, which will be relevant to population and growth studies as well as forensic anthropology.

Study of Cranial Capacity among Igbo Adolescents in Southeastern Nigeria

This work was aimed at comparing cranial capacity and multiple intelligence in Anambra adolescents. Three hundred and eighty three subjects were enlisted in the study, comprising 228 females (59.5%),

ESTIMATION OF CRANIAL CAPACITY OF ADULT POPULATION IN FARIDKOT DISTRICT OF PUNJAB AND ITS CORRELATION WITH CRANIAL AND BODY DIMENSIONS

TLDR
The present study has observed that mean values of all the observations are found to be higher in males than in females, and there is significant correlation between cranial capacity and cranial dimensions and body dimensions.

Assessment of the relationship between cranial capacity and intelligent quotient

TLDR
Findings from this study show that sexual dimorphism exists in craniometric parameters and there is no significant relationship between craniomet parameters and intelligence quotient among Igbos resident in Enugu metropolis.

Anatomical study to estimate cranial capacity in dry human skull bones

Background: Cranial volume as an aspect of dimension equally expresses several degrees of growth and development and permits critical evaluation of unusually large, small or misshapen crania. Present

Dimorfismo Sexual em Tomografias Cranianas e Volume Craniano

TLDR
It was found that all linear measurements on CTs and the assessment of intra-neurocranial volume are dimorphic and a logistic regression model called SEX 2019, proving to be effective in predicting sex, was created.

The Shapes Of Head And Face In Normal Male Newborns In South-East Of Caspian Sea ( Iran-Gorgan )

  • Medicine
  • 2004
TLDR
The possible effects of racial factor on the diversity of face shape in normal male newborns is determined and the importance of anthropometric indices of head and face in forensic medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and medical imaging is considered.

Effect of the Ethnic Factor on Cranial Capacity and Brain Weight of Male Newborns in Northern Iran

TLDR
An ethnic factor might influence brain weight and the cranial capacity of newborns in the native Fars and Turkman groups.

Intracranial volume change in childhood.

TLDR
Three main periods can be distinguished, each lasting approximately 5 years (0-5, 5-10, and 10-15 years), during which the growth of intracranial volume is linear.

A method for estimation of cranial capacity from cephalometric roentgenograms.

TLDR
A method of estimating cranial capacity of either living subjects or cadavers or dry skulls has been developed and tested and offers accuracy and reliability as good or better than the best methods presently employed.

Assessment of fetal biparietal diameter during normal pregnancy by ultrasound in Nigerian women

TLDR
The fetal biparietal diameter (BPD) was measured on 1104 occasions in 552 Nigerian women during normal pregnancy, and the range of BPD values for each week of pregnancy between 12 and 40 weeks was determined, showing no significant difference between the BPD measurements of Europeans and Nigerian fetuses except towards term.

Reduction cranioplasty for craniocerebral disproportion in infancy: indications and technique.

TLDR
Reduction cranioplasty may simplify management of patients with severe congenital hydrocephalus when conventional methods fail, or when in the setting of extreme degrees of craniocerebral disproportion they seem doomed to failure.

Brachycephalization in the head form of school girls in North Kyushu.

TLDR
The maximum head-length and head-breadth of school girls in Kitakyushu city were measured and the mean of cephalic index was 87.0 indicating hyperbrachycephalic incidence of Japanese, which may represent an example of the rapid brachycephalization of the present people.
