Abstract The isomers of 6-ribosylaminopurine (N 6 -ribosyladenine) are formed in up to 74% yield when a dry mixture of adenine and ribose is heated. Under these conditions ribose also reacts with the primary amine group of adenosine, guanosine and probably guanine to form the corresponding ribosylaminopurines, while hypoxanthine fails to react. In the presence of Mg 2+ and inorganic polyphosphates the natural nucleosides are also formed. Maximum yields of β-inosine, β-adenosine and β-guanosine… Expand
