Measurements of viscosity with varying concentration of solute, added sodium chloride, and the extent of neutralization of the solutions of gum arabate and arabic acid have been reported. A connected explanation for all the different observations has been formulated by the assumption of the existence of flexible chain molecules in solutions of gum arabate.
