As we described in our editorial in this issue, writing case reports is crucial in both building case writing skills and enhancing clinical diagnostic reasoning. Case reports have always been an integral part of medical history. However, case reporting instruction has previously tended to be vague, whereas students may need more detailed support such as step-by-step guidance.
