  • Abstract In the More basin offshore mid-Norway, the basis of the Cretaceous sequence reaches depths of more than 5000 m. The basin is limited on its eastern margin by a system of extensional faults which probably were initiated in the Triassic and which were active periodically throughout the Aptian. The internal basin floor is divided into subbasins by structural highs which are rotated fault blocks, presumably rooted in the basement.
