This study focused on characterizing the endemic fish assemblages in the upper Yangtze River Basin and identifying the relative influences of catchment land‐cover variables on observed fish patterns in order to suggest a conservation strategy. A model based on a self‐organizing map was applied to determine endemic fish assemblages along the river network, based on presence/absence data for 124 endemic species. Five fish assemblages (Ia, Ib, IIa, IIb1, IIb2) were described. These assemblages…
Longitudinal patterns of fish community structure in the Shatt Al-Arab River, Iraq
TLDR
Results suggested the present of three ecological fish guilds in Shatt Al-Arab River, each representing unique species associations, habitat characteristics, and spatial fish distributions.
Status of Freshwater Fish Biodiversity in the Yangtze River Basin, China
Chinese freshwater fish numbers are over 1000 species, and at least 717 species in 33 families inhabit rivers, and another 66 species spend part of their lives in rivers, while others are mainly
Fish assemblage structure and spatial gradients of diversity in a large tropical reservoir, Panchet in the Ganges basin, India
TLDR
Fish assemblage structure in Panchet, a large tropical reservoir along river Damodar, major tributary of river Ganga in India, was studied along the spatial gradient of the impoundment to suggest conservation of fish habitats to maintain diversity and sustained production.
Fish assemblages and diversity in three tributaries of the Irrawaddy River in China: changes, threats and conservation perspectives
Incompletely known fish assemblages and species diversity are substantial obstacles in fish conservation, particularly when their aquatic habitats are under threat due to rapid human-induced changes.
Mapping biodiversity hotspots of fish communities in subtropical streams through environmental DNA
Tropical and subtropical freshwater habitats are among the most biodiverse ecosystems worldwide, containing a characteristic fauna and high numbers of endemic species. However, exploitation of
Mapping biodiversity hotspots of fish communities in subtropical streams through environmental DNA
TLDR
This study uses a single environmental DNA multi-site sampling campaign across the 200,000 km2 Chao Phraya river basin, Thailand, to provide key information on fish diversity and identifies key biodiversity patterns within the river network.
Fish assemblage structure in the Chishui River, a protected tributary of the Yangtze River Structure des communautés piscicoles de la rivière Chishui, un affluent protégé du fleuve Yangtzé
TLDR
Based on species distributions and fish-habitat relationships, conservation strategies were proposed for different reaches and five environmental variables significantly structuring fish assemblages in the Chishui River were highlighted.

TLDR
Fish assemblages at 16 sites in the upper French Broad River basin, North Carolina were related to environmental characteristics using detrended correspondence analysis, principal components analysis, and linear regression to support the identification of indicators for different environmental influences.

TLDR
A need to identify areas of high fish biodiversity and to select nature reserves to mitigate the loss of fish biodiversity in the Yangtze River basin is indicated.
Conservation Strategies for Endemic Fish Species Threatened by the Three Gorges Dam
Abstract:  The largest damming project to date, the Three Gorges Dam has been built along the Yangtze River (China), the most species‐rich river in the Palearctic region. Among 162 species of fish
