We examine how the structure of the world trade network has been shaped by globalization and recessions over the last 40 years. We show that by treating the world trade network as an evolving system, theory predicts the trade network is more sensitive to recessionary shocks and recovers more slowly from them now than it did 40 years ago, due to structural changes in the world trade network induced by globalization. We also show that recession-induced change to the world trade network leads to… Expand

The Relevance and Signicance of Preferential Trade in the World Trade Network
In this paper we assess the impact of preferential trade agreements (PTAs) on the structure of world trade looking for communities in the world trade network (WTN), and allowing the presence ofExpand
Structure of trade flow networks for world commodities
Abstract We analyze the structural change of the trade flow network for different commodities from 1995 to 2013. We investigate the hierarchical organization of Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) using theExpand
Carbon network embodied in international trade: Global structural evolution and its policy implications
There are overwhelming proofs that world-wide carbon emission profiles have been substantially shaped by carbon leakage through international trade. However, it has been unclear how structure andExpand
Modeling international crisis synchronization in the world trade web
TLDR
The results reinforce the idea that globalization accelerates the global synchronization process, and the analysis at a mesoscopic level shows that this synchronization is different before and after globalization periods: after globalization, the effect of communities is almost inexistent. Expand
Stability of the World Trade Web over Time - An Extinction Analysis
The World Trade Web (WTW) is a weighted network whose nodes correspond to countries while edge weights reflecting the value of imports and/or exports between countries. In this paper we introduce toExpand
State and Network Structures of Stock Markets Around the Global Financial Crisis
We consider the effects of the 2008 global financial crisis on the global stock market before, during, and after the crisis. We generate complex networks from a cross-correlation matrix such as theExpand
COMPLEX NETWORKS AND MINIMAL SPANNING TREES IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE NETWORK
The wealth of a nation is changed by the internal economic growth of a nation and by the international trade among countries. Trade between countries are one of their most important interactions andExpand
Trade Integration and Trade Imbalances in the European Union: A Network Perspective
TLDR
The application addresses the impact of the launch of the Euro and proposes two global measures that assess the trade integration and the trade imbalances of the European countries, finding that ultimate surpluses of Germany are quite concentrated in only three partners. Expand
Network structure impacts global commodity trade growth and resilience
TLDR
This work analyzes the relationship between structural properties of the global commodity trade networks and their dynamic growth, as well as the resilience of their growth with respect to the 2009 global economic shock to suggest that a strategy to support making global trade networks more efficient via, e.g., preferential trade agreements and higher specialization, can promote their further growth. Expand
A stochastic generative model of the World Trade Network
TLDR
A stochastic model is described that yields synthetic networks that closely mimic the properties of annual empirical data and combines two popular mechanisms of network generation: preferential attachment and multiplicative process. Expand

Correlation of financial markets in times of crisis
Using the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of correlations matrices of some of the main financial market indices in the world, we show that high volatility of markets is directly linked with strongExpand

TLDR
I am writing with a simple plea to balance the voluminous articles about treatment in your journal with a modicum of information about nature and caring effects to rekindle the perception of physicians as healers, not only treaters, who relish the gifts of nature, and foster the humanistic aspect of medicine that has thrived for millennia. 疟原虫var基因转换速率变化导致抗原变异[英]/Paul H, Robert P, Christodoulou Z, et al//Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A
