Natriuretic peptides are cyclic vasoactive peptide hormones with great diagnostic and therapeutic relevance. The main catabolic pathway postulated for natriuretic peptides is the degradation by neutral endopeptidase (NEP). However, B-type natriuretic peptide has been found to be resistant to NEP.
