We investigate the low temperature structural and physical properties of the trilayer nickelates R4Ni3O10 (R = La, Pr and Nd) using resistivity, thermopower, thermal conductivity, specific heat, high-resolution synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction and thermal expansion experiments. We show that all three compounds crystallize with a monoclinic symmetry, and undergo a metal-to-metal (MMT) transition at 135 K (La), 156 K (Pr) and 160 K (Nd). At MMT, the lattice parameters show distinct anomalies…

Correlation between the tolerance factor and phase transition in A4–xBxNi3O10 ( A and B=La,Pr,and Nd;x=0,1,2,and 3 )

We have synthesized a series of the Ruddlesden-Popper nickelate solid solution Ln4-xLn'xNi3O10 (Ln and Ln' = La, Pr and Nd; x = 0, 1, 2 and 3) via the citrate precursor method at different reacting

Metal-to-metal transition and heavy-electron state in Nd4Ni3O10−δ

The trilayer nickelate Nd$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10-\delta}$ ($\delta \approx$ 0.15) was investigated by the measurements of x-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and heat

Anisotropic character of the metal-to-metal transition in Pr4Ni3O10

As a member of the Ruddlesden-Popper $L{n}_{\mathrm{n}+1}\mathrm{N}{\mathrm{i}}_{\mathrm{n}}{\mathrm{O}}_{3\mathrm{n}+1}$ series rare-earth-nickelates,

Superconductivity in an infinite-layer nickelate

The observation of superconductivity in an infinite-layer nickelate that is isostructural to infinite- Layer copper oxides11–13 and the possibility of a family of nickelate superconductors analogous to Copper oxides and pnictides25 is suggested.

Ruddlesden-Popper Lnn+1NinO3n+1 Nickelates: Structure and Properties

Abstract In the past decade intense research activity in the area of the so-called Ruddlesden-Poper phases, especially the nickelates, has been motivated by the similarity of their structure and many

High oxygen pressure floating zone growth and crystal structure of the metallic nickelates R4Ni3O10 ( R=La,Pr )

Single crystals of the metallic Ruddlesden-Popper trilayer nickelates R$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$ (R=La, Pr) were successfully grown using an optical-image floating zone furnace under oxygen pressure

Crystalline electric field of the rare-earth nickelates RNiO3 (R=Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, and Pr1-xLax, 0~x~0.7) determined by inelastic neutron scattering

The rare-earth based nickelates $R{\mathrm{NiO}}_{3} (R=\mathrm{Pr},$ Nd, Sm, Eu, and ${\mathrm{Pr}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{La}}_{x}, 0l~xl~0.7)$ were studied by inelastic neutron scattering.

Magnetism and the charge order transition in lightly doped La 1-x Sr x MnO 3

Measuring the magnetization and the specific heat of La 1 - x Sr x MnO 3 single crystals with 0.11≤x≤0.15 we have investigated the charge order (CO) transition in lightly doped manganites. Though the
