Structural and osmotic studies of single giant fibres of barnacle muscle

Non-solvent water was measured in single giant muscle fibres of the barnacleBalanus nubilus, using X-ray and light diffraction techniques to measure the lattice volume under different osmotic regimes. This non-solvent volume was found to be about 50%, in agreement with Hinke's (1970) observation by a variety of other techniques. Preliminary proton n.m.r… (More)
