Bradyrhizobium japonicum has two closely linked homologs of the nodulation regulatory gene, nodD; these homologs are located upstream of and in divergent orientation to the nodYABCSUIJ gene cluster. We report here the nucleotide sequence and mutational analyses of both nodD copies.
