To better comprehend the structural and biochemical underpinnings of ion uptake across the gills of true freshwater crabs, we performed an ultrastructural, ultracytochemical and morphometric investigation, and kinetically characterized the Na(+),K(+)-ATPase, in posterior gill lamellae of Dilocarcinus pagei.
