Aristolactams from roots of Ottonia Anisum (Piperaceae)

TLDR
This is the first report about the occurrence of aristolactams in the Ottonia anisum Sprengel, which is known as source of amides, flavonoids, arylpropanoids and terpenes with record biological activities.

Chemistry and Biological Activity of Essential Oils from Piper Claussenianum (Piperaceae)

TLDR
The essential oil from P. claussenianum fresh leaves, which was rich in (E)-nerolidol, showed effective growth inhibition of L. amazonensis due to the high percentage of this metabolite in the mixture.

A UHPLC-UV Method Development and Validation for Determining Kavalactones and Flavokavains in Piper methysticum (Kava)

TLDR
This study demonstrates that the method of analysis offers convenience and adequate sensitivity for determining methysticin, DHM, kavain, DHK, yangonin, DMY, FKA, FKB, and FKC in kava raw materials and finished products.

Pipermethystine, a novel pyridone alkaloid from piper methysticum

Synthesis, in vitro, reactivity, and identification of 6-phenyl-3-hexen-2-one in human urine after kava-kava (Piper methysticum) ingestion.

TLDR
The synthesis of 6 -phenyl-3-hexen-2-one is described, its reactivity with glutathione in vitro, and its isolation and identification, as its mercapturic acid adduct using LC/MS/MS, in the urine of two human subjects following their ingestion of kava.

The molecular and crystal structure of D,L-4-methoxy-6-styryl-5,6-dihydro-α-pyrone (kavain)

The crystal structure of kavain, CiiHuOa, has been determined by x-ray diffraction methods. The crystals are monoclinic with space group P2i/a. The unit-cell dimensions are a = 23.032 A, b = 9.430 A,

EXTRACTS AND KAVALACTONES OF PIPER METHYSTICUM G. FORST (KAVA-KAVA) INHIBIT P-GLYCOPROTEIN IN VITRO

TLDR
Results for the first time demonstrate P-gp-inhibitory activity of kava-kava and its components in vitro.

The crystalline form of 4-methoxy-6-(l',2'-dihydrostyryl)-5,6-dihydroα-pyrone is assigned to space group P2Jc—C^ having parameters α = 10.921, 6 = 7.60ό, c = 17.014 A and β = 119° 30'. The crystal s

DESMETHOXYYANGONIN AND DIHYDROMETHYSTICIN ARE TWO MAJOR PHARMACOLOGICAL KAVALACTONES WITH MARKED ACTIVITY ON THE INDUCTION OF CYP3A23

TLDR
The findings suggest that the induction of CYP3A23 by dihydromethysticin and desmethoxyyangonin involves transcription activation, probably through a PXR-independent or P XR-involved indirect mechanism.
