In this letter we considered the bosonic string action in the presence of metric Gμν , Kalb-Ramond field Bμν and dilaton field Φ. We commented the conditions for quantum conformal invariance using standard approach (all three β functions are zero) and the second one, adding Liouville term to the sigma model action. Analyzing the second one and writing down the effective action, we get Einstein-Hilbert action with some matter and cosmological constant, which is expressed in terms of the central… Expand

The String Landscape and the Swampland
Recent developments in string theory suggest that string theory landscape of vacua is vast. It is natural to ask if this landscape is as vast as allowed by consistent-looking effective fieldExpand

We give a pedagogical introduction to string theory, D-branes and p-brane solutions. 1 Introductory remarks These notes are based on lectures given at the 271-th WE-Haereus-Seminar ‘Aspects ofExpand
The String Landscape, the Swampland, and the Missing Corner
We give a brief overview of the string landscape and techniques used to construct string compactifications. We then explain how this motivates the notion of the swampland and review a number ofExpand
