SUMMARY: Strains of Phytophthora cactorum resistant to streptomycin were obtained by incubating zoospores in liquid medium containing the drug. One of the strains required streptomycin for growth. In this dependent strain and one of the resistant strains, the dependence or resistance was transmitted to both asexual and selfed sexual progeny without any segregation for sensitivity. Change from dependence to resistance occurred with low frequency. Some of the resistant and the dependent strains…

Effect of Chloramphenicol and Streptomycin on Developmental Stages of Phytophthom infestans
TLDR
Chloramphenicol and streptomycin inhibited vegetative growth and sporulation of wild-type isolates of Phytophthora infestans but not the corresponding resistant isolates, or a strePTomycin-dependent mutant (Sd); in the latter streptomecin was stimulatory.
In vitro growth response of Phytophthora cactorum, P. nicotianae and P. × pelgrandis to antibiotics and fungicides
TLDR
Distinct genetic groups showed significant differences in resistance to all tested substances except streptomycin, and the growth inhibition rates of distinct groups did not differ significantly.
Variation in Growth Rate and Colony Morphology of Phytophthora parasitica Induced by Metalaxyl
Growing isolates P991 and P731 of Phytophthora parasitica on medium containing 25μg/ml metalaxyl for 6 weeks, caused 66-74% of their single-zoospore cultures to increase the range of growth rates on
The inheritance of drug resistance and compatibility type in Phytophthora drechsleri
TLDR
Methods have been developed for the selection of mutants resistant to p-fluorophenylalanine, chloramphenicol and actidione and inheritance of mating type was anomalous in crosses involving drug-resistant mutants.
Effects of Streptomycin on the Growth and Sporulation of Saprolegnia spp.
TLDR
Streptomycin inhibited growth and sporulation of Saprolegnia species, although variations in sensitivity were recorded, and changes were seen in the organization of endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria and nuclei.
Selection for growth-rate during asexual and sexual propagation in Phytophthora cactorum
TLDR
It is concluded that growth-rate is controlled by a polygenic system and by cytoplasmic determinants, a mutant form of which is responsible for the fast-sectoring phenotype.
