A novel actinomycete, designated Z4(T), was isolated from soil in Yaan, Sichuan Province, south China. The taxonomic status of this strain was established using a polyphasic approach. The morphological and chemotaxonomic characteristics of the organism are typical of the members of the genus Streptomyces. Phylogenetic analysis based on the almost complete 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain Z4(T) belonged to the genus Streptomyces, branching off next to Streptomyces durhamensis ATCC…

Figures and Tables from this paper

TLDR
The phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic as well as genomic evidence supported that strain TW1S1T represents a novel species of Streptomyces, for which the name StrePTomycesfodineus sp.
Streptomyces zagrosensis sp. nov., isolated from soil.
TLDR
The taxonomic position of a novel actinomycete isolated from soil in Fars Province (Iran) was determined using a polyphasic approach and strain HM 1154(T) is considered to represent a novel species within the genus Streptomyces, for which the name StrePTomyces zagrosensis sp.
Streptomyces alfalfae sp. nov. and comparisons with its closest taxa Streptomyces silaceus, Streptomyces flavofungini and Streptomyces intermedius.
TLDR
Analysis of cellular components of strain XY25T revealed ll-diaminopimelic acid as diagnostic diamino acid and xylose as the major sugar, whereas polar lipids were determined as phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosph atidylinositol, an unknown phospholipid and several unknown lipids.

TLDR
The results of morphological, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and phenotypic analyses confirm that this strain represents a novel species of the genus StrePTomyces, for which the name Streptomyces olivicoloratus sp.
Streptomyces corallincola and Kineosporia corallincola sp. nov., two new coral-derived marine actinobacteria.
TLDR
Comparative genome analysis indicated the delineation of two novel species based on digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values, which were below 70 and 95 %, respectively.
Screening of antimicrobial producing Actinobacteria from Enggano Island, Indonesia
TLDR
Three strains isolated from Enggano Island were found putatively as new species of the genus Streptomyces, and Extracts from SHP 1-2 showed strong growth inhibition of Bacillus substilis and Micrococcus luteus and weak growth inhibit...

An improved method is offered, used in the analytical systems of A2pm and whole-cell sugars, for a more simple, rapid and accurate grouping of a large number of aerobic actinomycetes by wall chemotype.
The Nomenclature and Classification of the Actinomycetes
TLDR
The code should be modified to permit generic names in wide usage based upon type cultures to have priority over names based merely upon morphologic descriptions, to avoid similar dilemmas in the future.
Numerical taxonomy of some nocardioform bacteria.

A collection of 283 nocardioform bacteria was studied by means of 241 tests which included many biochemical, physiological and nutritional characters which revealed many new characters which could be weighted for identification.
Production of xylanase by an alkaline-tolerant marine-derived Streptomyces viridochromogenes strain and improvement by ribosome engineering
TLDR
This is the first report to show that marine-derived S. viridochromogenes strain can be used as a xylanase producer, and utilization of ribosome engineering for the improvement of xylan enzyme production in Streptomyces was also first successfully demonstrated.
Numerical classification of Streptomyces and related genera.
TLDR
The phenetic data obtained, together with those from previous diverse studies, indicated that the genera Actinopycnidium, Actinosporangium, Chainia, Elytrosporangia, Kitasatoa and Microellobosporia should be reduced to synonyms of Streptomyces, while IntrasporangIUM, Nocardioides and Streptoverticillium remained as distinct genera in the familyStreptomycetaceae.
