}A novel actinomycete, designated Z4(T), was isolated from soil in Yaan, Sichuan Province, south China. The taxonomic status of this strain was established using a polyphasic approach. The morphological and chemotaxonomic characteristics of the organism are typical of the members of the genus Streptomyces.
