The Stochastic Series Expansion (SSE) technique is a quantum Monte Carlo method that is especially efficient for many quantum spin systems and boson models. It was the first generic method free from the discretization errors affecting previous path integral based approaches. These lecture notes give a brief overview of the SSE method and its applications. In the introductory section, the representation of quantum statistical mechanics by the power series expansion of ${\rm e}^{-\beta H}$ will… Expand

Stochastic Series Expansion Quantum Monte Carlo for Rydberg Arrays
Arrays of Rydberg atoms are a powerful platform to realize strongly-interacting quantum many-body systems. A common Rydberg Hamiltonian is free of the sign problem, meaning that its equilibriumExpand
Building models of topological quantum criticality from pivot Hamiltonians
Progress in understanding symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases has been greatly aided by our ability to construct lattice models realizing these states. In contrast, a systematic approach toExpand

Symmetric cluster expansions with tensor networks
Cluster expansions for the exponential of local operators are constructed using tensor networks. In contrast to other approaches, the cluster expansion does not break any spatial or internalExpand

Quantum Monte Carlo Methods: Algorithms for Lattice Models
Featuring detailed explanations of the major algorithms used in quantum Monte Carlo simulations, this is the first textbook of its kind to provide a pedagogical overview of the field and itsExpand
Exact, complete, and universal continuous-time worldline Monte Carlo approach to the statistics of discrete quantum systems
The principles found for the update in continuous time generalize to any continuous variables in the space of discrete virtual transitions, and in principle make it possible to simulate continuous systems exactly. Expand
Kagome model for a Z2 quantum spin liquid
We present a study of a simple model antiferromagnet consisting of a sum of nearest neighbor SO($N$) singlet projectors on the Kagome lattice. Our model shares some features with the popular $S=1/2$Expand
Spin-S Designer Hamiltonians and the Square Lattice S=1 Haldane Nematic.
By numerical simulations, it is established that this model realizes a novel "Haldane nematic" phase that breaks lattice rotational symmetry by the spontaneous formation of Haldane chains, while preserving spin rotations, time reversal, and lattice translations. Expand
Quantum Phases of SrCu_{2}(BO_{3})_{2} from High-Pressure Thermodynamics.
The possibility to tune SrCu{2}(BO_{3})_{2} between the plaquette-singlet and antiferromagnetic states opens opportunities for experimental tests of quantum field theories and lattice models involving fractionalized excitations, emergent symmetries, and gauge fluctuations. Expand
