The effects of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) on the progesterone secretion of luteal cells from rats were studied. Corpora lutea were harvested on Day 6 of pseudopregnancy and digested by trypsin. Homogeneous suspensions of luteal cells were used for short-term incubation. ACTH, PGE2, and hCG were added to the medium and the changes in progesterone production were measured by radioimmunoassay (RIA). Furthermore, specific ACTH…
Direct actions of ACTH on ovarian function of pseudopregnant rabbits
Interactions between interleukin-1 beta, nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 in the rat ovary: effects on steroidogenesis.
TLDR
A comparison of the steroidogenic NO and PGE2 responses to IL-1 beta in the three culture models suggests that (i) the response to IL,1 beta observed in ovarian dispersates could be due to cytokine activation of resident and infiltrating macrophages or that the action of IL- 1 beta requires some other heterologous cell-cell contact, and (ii) IL-2 beta acts indirectly on signal transduction pathways which stimulate steroidogenesis.
Cell Localization of ACTH, Dopamine, and GnRH Receptors and PPARγ in Bovine Corpora Lutea during Diestrus
TLDR
Evaluating the immunohistochemical presence of receptors for adrenocorticotropic hormone, dopamine, gonadotropin-releasing hormone, and peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor γ in early, mid, late and regressive CL during diestrous cycle of bovine showed that GnRHR, MC2R, PPARγ, DR2 and DR5 are variously present throughout the different luteal phases of the diESTrous cycle.
Cellular localization of ovarian prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase during pseudopregnancy in the rat.
The specific cellular localization of prostaglandin endoperoxide (PGH) synthase, the enzyme responsible for initiating the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins, was studied throughout
Luteal expression of thyroid hormone receptors during gestation and postpartum in the rat.
TLDR
Luteal thyroid hormone receptor isoforms (TR) expression and regulation throughout pregnancy and under the influence of thyroid status are determined, and in vitro effects of triiodothyronine (T3) exposure on luteal P4 synthesis are studied.
Luteal expression of thyroid hormone receptors during gestation and postpartum in the rat.
TLDR
This study confirms for the first time the presence of TR isoforms in the CL during pregnancy and postpartum, identifying this gland as a TH target during gestation.
Hypothyroidism prolongs corpus luteum function in the pregnant rat.
TLDR
The results show that the delay in P4 decline and parturition is the resultant of retarded luteal regression, caused by a combination of decreases in luteolytic factors, mainly lutenal PGF2alpha, iNOS mRNA expression and also circulating LH, and increased synthesis or action of luteotrophic factors, such as luteAl and circulating PGE2 and circulating PRL.
Vascular endothelial growth factor increases messenger RNAs encoding cyclooxygenase-II and membrane-associated prostaglandin E synthase in rat luteal cells.
TLDR
VEGF enhances PGE2 production by stimulating COX-II and mPGES expression in rat corpus luteum and that the effect of VEGF on luteal cells may be partially mediated by this stimulation of P GE2 production.
