Abstract A methanol extract of the soft coral Sinularia microspiculata revealed five sterols, including two new compounds. Using combined chromatographic and spectroscopic experiments, the new compounds were found to be 7-oxogorgosterol (1) and 16α-hydroxysarcosterol (2). Their structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic data (1H and 13C NMR, HSQC, HMBC, 1H-1H COSY, NOESY, and FT-ICR-MS) and by comparing obtained results to the values indicated in previous studies. Among the…

Steroid Constituents from the Soft Coral Sinularia nanolobata.

Six steroids (1-6), including the two new compounds 3β,4α-dihydroxyergosta-5,24(28)-diene (1) and 24(S),28-epoxyergost-5-ene-3β,4α-diol (2), were isolated from the methanol extract of the Vietnamese

Cytotoxic Steroids from the Vietnamese Soft Coral Sinularia leptoclados.

Fifteen steroids, including two new compounds, leptosteroid (1) and 5,6β-epoxygorgosterol (2) were isolated and structurally elucidated from the Vietnamese soft coral Sinularia leptoclados and showed significant cytotoxic activity against a panel of eight human cancer cell lines.

Four bioactive new steroids from the soft coral Lobophytum pauciflorum collected in South China Sea

Four new polyhydroxylated steroids lobophysterols E–H (1–4), together with three known compounds (5–7), were isolated from the soft coral Lobophytum pauciflorum collected at Xisha Island, China by extensive spectroscopic analysis and comparison with NMR data of structurally related compounds reported in the literature.

Cytotoxic Steroids from the Vietnamese Soft Coral Sinularia conferta.

Twelve steroids, including five new compounds 1-5, were isolated and structurally elucidated from a methanol extract of the Vietnamese soft coral Sinularia conferta. Their cytotoxic effects against

Cytotoxic steroid derivatives from the Vietnamese soft coral Sinularia brassica

The structure elucidation was confirmed by spectroscopic methods including 1D, 2D NMR and HR-ESI-MS and the cytotoxic activities of all the isolated compounds against three human cancer cell lines were evaluated using MTT-based colorimetric assays.

Cytotoxic Compounds from Alcyoniidae: An Overview of the Last 30 Years

This review aims to provide an updated overview of the compounds isolated from Alcyoniidae and displaying potential cytotoxic activity, and found that (22S,24S)-24-methyl-22,25-epoxyfurost-5-ene-3β,20β-diol and cladieunicellin I exhibited stronger cytotoxicity than their respective positive control and that their mechanism of action has not yet been further investigated.

STRUCTURE ELUCIDATION OF FOUR STEROIDS FROM THE SOFT CORAL SINULARIA NANOLOBATA

Four steroids namely 3 β -hydroxyergosta-5,24(28)-diene-7-one ( 1 ), dissesterol ( 2 ), 16 α -hydroxysarcosterol ( 3 ), and sarcophytosterol ( 4 ) were isolated form the soft coral Sinularia

Pregnane steroids from the Vietnamese octocoral Carijoa riisei.

Six pregnane steroids including one new compound namely 15β-hydroxypregna-4,20-dien-3-one, were isolated and structurally elucidated from the octocoral Carijoa riisei and showed significant cytotoxicity against all the tested cell lines.
