Abstract

Immobilized cells of a recombinant Escherichia coli expressing nitrilase from Pseudomonas putida were used to catalyze the hydrolysis of mandelonitrile (2hydroxy-2-phenylacetonitrile) to (R)-(-)-mandelic acid.
