-Multiresolutional representation such as pyramidal structures is useful for stereo matching as coarseto-fine strategy. However, conventional pyramidal structures using Gaussian or Laplacian filters lose much information due to their low-pass filtering characteristics and also cannot obtain any spatial orientation selectivity.
