Photoionization of Xe3+, Xe4+ and Xe5+ ions was measured in the energy range 670-750 eV, including the 3d ionization threshold. The cross sections exhibit a progressively larger number of sharp resonances as the ion charge state is increased. This clearly visualizes the re-ordering of the εf continuum into a regular series of (bound) Rydberg orbitals as the ionic core becomes more attractive.

MCDF calculations of Auger cascade processes

Abstract We model the multiple ionization of near-neutral core-excited atoms where a cascade of Auger processes leads to the emission of several electrons. We utilize the multiconfiguration

Xenon 5p–4d cascade emission upon 3d-photoionization

AbstractWe investigated the photon-emission spectrum of Xe atoms upon photoionization of the Xe 3d-subshell. The 5p-4d spectrum is emitted in the process of the cascading decay of the 3d-vacancy and

Experimental study of 4f wavefunction contraction: 4d-photoionization of low-charged ions of I, Xe, Cs and Ba

The photon-ion merged beam technique has been used to measure the ionization cross sections of I-, Cs+, Ba+ and Ba2+ ions in the energy region from 40 to 185 eV, which is dominated by photoexcitation

Collapse of the f-symmetric final-state wavefunction in the 3d excitation spectra of atomic Xe, Cs and Ba
