The Florida Torreya, Torreya taxifolia Arn., a rare species found naturally inhabiting the banks of Florida's Apalachicola Rivier*, is a source of grave concern regarding its preserva tion. The species is affected with a fungus dis ease contributing to a progressive state of de cline which threatens the existence of the species both in its natural habitat and wherever it is grown.
