We report a comprehensive light-element (Li, C, N, O, Na, Mg, and Al) abundance analysis of three solar-type main sequence (MS) dwarfs and three red giant branch (RGB) clump stars in the Hyades open cluster using highresolution and high signal-to-noise spectroscopy. The abundances have been derived in a self-consistent fashion, and for each group (MS or RGB), the CNO abundances are found to be in excellent star-to-star agreement. Using the dwarfs to infer the initial composition of the giants… Expand

Nucleosynthesis in the Hyades Open Cluster: Evidence for the Enhanced Depletion of 12C
Abstract We present the results of a light element abundance analysis of three solar-type main sequence (MS) dwarfs and three red giant branch (RGB) clump stars in the Hyades open cluster usingExpand
WIYN OPEN CLUSTER STUDY. LVII. OXYGEN ABUNDANCES OF SOLAR-TYPE DWARFS IN THE HYADES AND NGC?752
Oxygen has been proposed to be a superior tracer, compared to iron, for studying galactic chemical evolution. In the context of improving our understanding of the evolution of Galactic oxygen usingExpand
The Dawes Review 2: Nucleosynthesis and Stellar Yields of Low- and Intermediate-Mass Single Stars
Abstract The chemical evolution of the Universe is governed by the chemical yields from stars, which in turn are determined primarily by the initial stellar mass. Even stars as low as 0.9 M⊙ can, atExpand
A Chemical Abundance Study of 10 Open Clusters Based on WIYN
We present a detailed chemical abundance study of evolved stars in 10 open clusters based on Hydra multi-object echelle spectra obtained with the WIYN 3.5 m telescope. From an analysis of bothExpand
Chemical abundance analysis of the open clusters Berkeley 32, NGC 752, Hyades, and Praesepe
Context. Open clusters are ideal test particles for studying the chemical evolution of the Galactic disc. However, the number and accuracy of existing high-resolution abundance determinations, notExpand
The GALAH survey: verifying abundance trends in the open cluster M67 using non-LTE modelling
Open cluster members are coeval and share the same initial bulk chemical composition. Consequently, differences in surface abundances between members of a cluster that are at different evolutionaryExpand
Deep secrets of intermediate-mass giants and supergiants. Models with rotation seem to overestimate mixing effects on the surface abundances of C, N, and Na
Recent observational results have demonstrated an increase in the surface Na abundance that correlates with stellar mass for red giants between 2 and 3 Msun. This trend supports evolutionary mixingExpand
WIYN Open Cluster Study. LXXV. Testing the Metallicity Dependence of Stellar Lithium Depletion Using Hyades-Aged Clusters. 1. Hyades & Praesepe
WIYN/Hydra spectroscopy (at R~15,000) of the moderately metal-rich Praesepe and Hyades open clusters was used to study their main sequence (MS) iron ([Fe/H]) and lithium (A(Li)) abundances.Expand
Wide binaries in Tycho-Gaia II: metallicities, abundances and prospects for chemical tagging
From our recent catalog based on the first Gaia data release (TGAS), we select wide binaries in which both stars have been observed by the Radial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) or the Large Sky AreaExpand
WIYN OPEN CLUSTER STUDY. LXIII. ABUNDANCES IN THE SUPER-METAL-RICH OPEN CLUSTER NGC 6253 FROM HYDRA SPECTROSCOPY OF THE 7774 Å OXYGEN TRIPLET REGION
We present a spectroscopic abundance analysis of the old, super-metal-rich open cluster NGC 6253, with emphasis on its O abundance. High-dispersion, 7774 ÅO I triplet region spectra of 47 stars wereExpand
