Staurosporine, a potent inhibitor of protein kinases, has been used to investigate the involvement of protein kinases in cellular processes such as secretory function and differentiation. We have been examining the effects of staurosporine on secretory function under the same conditions it induces dramatic changes in cell morphology in cultured bovine adrenal chromaffin cells. Our results show that treatment with 100 nM staurosporine reduces catecholamine release stimulated by 56 mM KCl, 10… CONTINUE READING
