Status of Szechuanopithecus from the Pleistocene of China

DESCRIBING a typical Pleistocene fauna (with Ailuropoda and Tapirus augustus) from Koloshan, near Chungking, Szechuan, Central China, Young and Liu1 have recently figured an isolated lower bilophodont tooth, which according to these authors should indicate a new genus of the Cercopithecidae.
