  • The molecular Gibbs free energy of a conformal solution is treated by the use of perturbation theory. A general expansion is given, the zeroth order term of which is a linear combination of the molecular Gibbs free energies of suitably chosen one component systems. A criterion is given for the choice of these systems that leads to a unified derivation of three well‐known approximations which involve the use of composition dependent pair potentials.
