Abstract Static recrystallisation kinetics during hot deformation of two microalloyed steels (C–Ti–V and C–Ti–Nb) has been quantified. Double hit compression test using a Gleeble 1500 thermomechanical simulator was conducted to determine the recrystallisation kinetics. The kinetics of static recrystallisation was found to be more sluggish in the case of microalloyed steels with niobium additions as compared with other grades of microalloyed steels.
