Abstract This paper shows that from the input-output relationship point of view a linear dynamical system represented by a state equation (A, B, C, D) can be expressed as a serially connected composite system of a triangularly decoupled system and a linear system represented by (A, B, C, D) with a non-singular D. This expression can be considered as a generalization of Silverman's inversion algorithm and relates Wolovich and Falb's canonical form, and makes it possible to treat easily problems… CONTINUE READING
