Standard uncertainty can be thought of as the building block for uncertainty analysis—the lowest common denominator. Analysts have to combine uncertainties that are quoted in different ways, and this chapter demonstrates how to convert these uncertainties into standard uncertainties. Uncertainties due to scale size, resolution, rounding and truncation are also introduced.
