▪ Abstract Standard star photometry dominated the latter half of the twentieth century reaching its zenith in the 1980s. It was introduced to take advantage of the high sensitivity and large dynamic range of photomultiplier tubes compared to photographic plates. As the quantum efficiency of photodetectors improved and the wavelength range extended further to the red, standard systems were modified and refined, and deviations from the original systems proliferated. The revolutionary shift to… Expand

Gaia spectro-photometry absolute calibration and comparison to classical systems
The Gaia spectro-photometric data consist of white-light G magnitudes from unfiltered fluxes measured in the astrometric field CCDs, and low resolution prism spectra measured in the blue (BP) andExpand
A new catalogue of Stroemgren-Crawford uvbybeta photometry
A new all-sky catalogue of all available uvbybeta measurements from the literature was generated. The uvbybeta photometric system is widely used for the study of various Galactic and extragalacticExpand
Toward 1% Photometry: End-to-end Calibration of Astronomical Telescopes and Detectors
We review the systematic uncertainties that have plagued attempts to obtain high precision and high accuracy from ground-based photometric measurements using CCDs. We identify two main challenges inExpand
THE Pan-STARRS1 PHOTOMETRIC SYSTEM
The Pan-STARRS1 survey is collecting multi-epoch, multi-color observations of the sky north of declination –30° to unprecedented depths. These data are being photometrically and astrometricallyExpand
Absolute physical calibration in the infrared
We determine an absolute calibration for the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer 24 μm band and recommend adjustments to the published calibrations for Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS),Expand
Relative astrometry and near-infrared differential photometry of nearby southern orbital binaries with adaptive optics
We present relative astrometry and differential photometry measurements for a sample of nearby southern orbital binaries making use of the technique of Adaptive Optics. The observations were made inExpand
Photometric calibration of the Swift ultraviolet/optical telescope
We present the photometric calibration of the Swift Ultraviolet/Optical Telescope (UVOT) which includes: optimum photometric and background apertures, effective area curves, colour transformations,Expand
Accuracy in starphotometry
Abstract. Starphotometry, the night-time counterpart of sunphotometry, has not yet achieved the commonly sought observational error level of 1 %: a spectral optical depth (OD) error level of 0.01. InExpand
The design and performance of the Gaia photometric system
The European Gaia astrometry mission is due for launch in 2011. Gaia will rely on the proven principles of the ESA Hipparcos mission to create an all-sky survey of about one billion stars throughoutExpand
Herschel-PACS photometry of faint stars
Our aims are to determine flux densities and their photometric accuracy for a set of seventeen stars that range in flux from intermediately bright ( 5 mJy) in the far-infrared (FIR). We also aim toExpand

VRI photometry III: photographic and CCD R and I bands and the Kron-Cousins RI system
The Kron-Cousins R band has an extended red tail which, for M stars, causes large nonlinear differences between the standard R magnitudes and those measured using IIIa-F plates, or CCDs withExpand
Theoretical isochrones in several photometric systems I. Johnson-Cousins-Glass, HST/WFPC2, HST/NICMOS, Washington, and ESO Imaging Survey filter sets
We provide tables of theoretical isochrones in several photometric systems. To this aim, the following steps are followed: (1) first, we re-write the formalism for converting synthetic stellarExpand
