Human eosinophils activated by calcium ionophore produce granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). In T lymphocytes GM-CSF messenger RNA (mRNA) stability is regulated by 3' untranslated region (UTR) adenosine-uridine-rich elements (AREs).
