In order to evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of determination of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) levels in faeces, the stability of HGF in samples processed in different ways was investigated. An ELISA method was used for determination of HGF concentrations. Faeces samples from healthy controls and patients with infectious diarrhoea were studied. It was found that faeces HGF concentration remained stable irrespective of whether samples were freeze‐thawed several times, kept for 6, 12 or…
Differences in the expression of hepatocyte growth factor in acute and chronic bowel inflammation—Implications for diagnosis? *
TLDR
The faecal concentration of HGF was significantly higher in patients with ulcerative colitis compared to the other groups, and the binding affinity to dextran was lower in all groups compared to acute inflammation.
Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) in fecal samples: rapid detection by surface plasmon resonance
TLDR
Determination of HGF by SPR might be beneficial in diagnosis of acute situations that present with symptoms of gastroenteritis and may, possibly, guide appropriate medical treatments.
A methachromatic-based experimental model for identification of bowel as the focus of an acute inflammation
TLDR
A metachromatic experimental model that might distinguish acute inflammation in alimentary tract from other causes of diarrhea is introduced and might be used in developing rapid diagnostic tests.
Extracellular matrix factors influence myoblast activation, differentiation and fusion.
TLDR
The results indicate, for the first time, that the interaction of collagen IV with CD9 is a critical mediator of skeletal muscle fusion and that the observed pro-myogenic effect is accompanied, on a molecular level, by an increase in the number of committed MyoD positive cells.

Sample handling and stability of hepatocyte growth factor in blood samples.
TLDR
Standardized methods in sample handling are important in the study of HGF concentrations in blood samples and a significant increase in serum HGF levels was observed after shaking the whole blood sample to a visible haemolysis, although the HGF concentration in blood cells was around half of that in serum.
High Hepatocyte Growth Factor Levels in Faeces During Acute Infectious Gastroenteritis
TLDR
Determination of faeces HGF may identify cases of transmittable diarrhoea requiring isolation at an early stage of infectious gastroenteritis, and there was no significant correlation between HGF concentrations in faece and serum.
Serum hepatocyte growth factor levels in liver diseases: Clinical implications
TLDR
Serum HGF reflects the degree of liver dysfunction in chronic hepatic failure, and that serial measurement of serum HGF levels in acute hepatic injury serves as a prognostic factor.
Exhaled breath condensate and serum levels of hepatocyte growth factor in pneumonia.
TLDR
In the patients with pneumonia a decrease in serum HGF was seen already after 4-7 days while HGF values in breath condensate remained elevated even after 4 -6 weeks, which might imply local product on of HGF in the lungs and a long repair and healing process after pneumonia.
Plasma hepatocyte growth factor levels are increased in systemic inflammatory response syndrome
TLDR
The present findings indicate that plasma HGF increases in response to infection or inflammation in patients with systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
Technical Report: results of immunological tests on faecal extracts are likely to be extremely misleading
TLDR
The data indicate that immunological tests on saline extracts of faeces do not represent the true status of the gut humoral immune system, and such studies should be strongly discouraged.
High Serum Hepatocyte Growth Factor Levels in the Acute Stage of Community-acquired Infectious Diseases
TLDR
Serum HGF levels were significantly higher in patients with acute infectious diseases compared to patients with chronic viral hepatitis and healthy controls, and serum HGF and CRP levels were correlated significantly.
Hepatocyte growth factor in assessment of acute pancreatitis: Comparison with C-reactive protein and interleukin-6
TLDR
Serum HGF levels on admission are suggested to be a useful new clinical parameter for determining the prognosis of acute pancreatitis and that HGF may be closely related to the organ dysfunction of acute Pancreatitis.
Cytokines in stools of children with inflammatory bowel disease or infective diarrhoea.
TLDR
There is constant low grade production of TNF alpha in the intestine of healthy people and raised values are indicative of mucosal inflammation, but are not specific.
