When a population is engaged in successive prisoner's dilemmas, indirect reciprocity through reputation fosters cooperation through the emergence of moral and action rules. A simplified model has recently been proposed where individuals choose between helping others or not and are judged good or bad for it by the rest of the population. The reputation so acquired will condition future actions. In this model, eight strategies (referred to as "leading eight") enforce a high level of cooperation…

Modeling Prejudice and Its Effect on Societal Prosperity
The proposed system model can serve as a basis for promoting a deeper understanding of origins, propagation, and ramifications of prejudice through rigorous simulative studies grounded in apt theoretical backgrounds.
Apology and forgiveness evolve to resolve failures in cooperative agreements
It is shown that, when the agreement fails, participants prefer to take revenge by defecting in the subsisting encounters, and incorporating costly apology and forgiveness reveals that, even when mistakes are frequent, there exists a sincerity threshold for which mistakes will not lead to the destruction of the agreement, inducing even higher levels of cooperation.
Indirect Reciprocity and the Evolution of Prejudicial Groups
A new class of group is defined, the prejudicial group, with membership based on a common prejudicial attitude towards the out-group, and it is assumed that prejudice acts as a phenotypic tag, enabling groups to form and identify themselves on this basis.
Modeling Collective Morality via Evolutionary Game Theory
This chapter addresses the collective realm computationally, using Evolutionary Game Theory in populations of individuals, to report on norms and morality emergence, and prospect future work concerned with adding guilt.

This work discusses how its own research with Evolutionary Game Theory (EGT) modelling and experimentation leads to important insights for machine ethics, such as the design of moral machines, multi-agent systems, and contractual algorithms, plus their potential application in human settings too.
Non-thermal transitions in a model inspired by moral decisions
An analytical solution for this model is obtained in the large system limit as well as a leading order correction for finite-size systems which shows that typical realisations of the model develop a phase structure with both continuous and discontinuous non-thermal transitions.
Machine Ethics: From Machine Morals to the Machinery of Morality
It is vital and urgent to examine AI from a moral point of view because the cognitive revolution, brought about by the development of AI also gives rise to social and economic problems that directly impact humanity.

The biology of moral systems
The author argues that the ultimate interests of humans are reproductive, and that the concept of morality has arisen within groups because of its contribution to unity in the context, ultimately, of success in intergroup competition.
The Biology of Moral Systems Richard D. Alexander New York: Aldine De Gruyter, 1987
This volume attempts to remedy a situation in which "those who have tried to analyze morality have failed to treat the human traits that underlie moral behavior as outcomes of evolution" (p. xiv).

The authors postulate that aggression is always a consequence of frustration. They indicate manifestations of this sequence in almost every field of human behavior and interpret aggression as
