The spreading dynamics of small polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) drops was studied on substrates with varying surface energies. For experimental parameters near the wetting transition, we observed small PDMS drops of different drop volumes as a function of time using interference video microscopy. While for large drops the contact angle θ decreases with the well-established power-law relation θ approximately t(-0.3) (Tanner's law), the effect of dispersive van der Waals (VW) interactions must be…

Wettability and evaporation of sessile drops of biological fluids
Spreading/evaporation process of droplets over solid surfaces is a fundamental process and a wide research field because of number of applications in printing, micro-electronics, DNA analysis and
Spreading of diblock copolymer droplets: A probe of polymer micro-rheology
TLDR
It is shown that the different spreading dynamics of symmetric diblock copolymer droplets above and below the order-disorder transition can be reconciled with conventional theory if a strain-rate-dependent viscosity is taken into account.
Cold-induced spreading of water drops on hydrophobic surfaces.
TLDR
The roles of physical variables, such as the substrate temperature, humidity of surrounding air, types of hydrophobic surfaces, surface roughness, and drop volume, on post-spreading shape are investigated experimentally.
Droplet spreading: A Monte Carlo test of Tanner’s law
The spreading of polymer droplets under conditions of complete wetting on an ideally flat and structureless solid substrate has been studied by computer simulation, using a coarse-grained bead–spring
Model for spreading of liquid monolayers.
TLDR
KMC simulations are used to analyze in detail a simple, but realistic model for the two-dimensional spreading on homogeneous substrates of a fluid monolayer which is extracted from a reservoir and show that including the effect of correlations in an effective manner into the standard mean-field description leads to predictions both for the value of the threshold interaction above which phase segregation occurs and for the density profiles in excellent agreement with KMC simulation results.
Wetting Characteristics of Aqueous Surfactant-Laden Drops
Strategies to promote or control droplet spreading on solid surfaces is important to many industrial and biological processes. The manipulation of surface tension and contact angle by the addition of
Simple Approach for Spreading Dynamics of Polymeric Fluids

Dynamics of wetting: local contact angles

Dynamics of Spreading of Liquid Microdroplets on Substrates of Increasing Surface Energies
By spatially resolved single-wavelength ellipsometry, we investigate the spreading on a solid substrate of low molecular weight trimethyl-terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) droplets. Especially, we

A study of the spreading of silicone oil drops is presented, with particular attention to the dominant effect of the conditions near the edge and the surface tension forces acting there. It is shown

TLDR
It is concluded that the wetting film on the surface and other microscopic changes in the slipping region near the contact line affect the macroscopic dynamics of air/water contact lines in vertical glass capillaries.
Wetting: statics and dynamics
The wetting of solids by liquids is connected to physical chemistry (wettability), to statistical physics (pinning of the contact line, wetting transitions, etc.), to long-range forces (van der
Ultrathin films in wetting evidenced by x-ray reflectivity.
TLDR
The final stages of spreading are shown to be largely dependent on the polymer-substrate interactions, and increasing the chain length of the polymer slows the process down, but does not lead to a qualitatively different behavior.
Wetting laws for polymer solutions
We measure the contact angle θ() of polymer solutions (polymer volume fraction ) on a solid surface. The polymer is repelled at both solid and air interfaces. The pure solvent wets the solid, but the
