Outbreaks or clusters of community-acquired meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) within families have been reported. We describe a family cluster of CA-MRSA skin and soft-tissue infection where CA-MRSA was suspected because of recurrent infections which failed to respond to flucloxacillin. While the prevalence of CA-MRSA is low worldwide, CA-MRSA should be considered in certain circumstances depending on clinical presentation and risk assessment. Surveillance cultures of family…
Association of Environmental Contamination in the Home With the Risk for Recurrent Community-Associated, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Infection.
TLDR
House environmental contamination was associated with an increased rate of recurrent infection among individuals with a community-associated methicillin-resistant S aureus (MRSA) infection and should be considered as a strategy to prevent future MRSA infections, particularly among households where an infection has occurred.

TLDR
In an asylum seeker centre in Schleswig-Holstein, a resident was diagnosed with furuncle caused by a Panton-Valentine leukocidine-positive community-acquired meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and two further PVL-positive CA-MRSA cases were identified.
Culture-and nonculture-based antibiotics for complicated soft tissue infections are comparable
TLDR
The ineffectiveness of bacterial culture as a diagnostic criterion for appropriate antibiotic therapy of complicated skin and soft tissue infections is demonstrated.
Pengobatan antibiotika sesuai dan tidak sesuai kultur pada infeksi jaringan lunak komplikata adalah sebanding
TLDR
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the operational effectiveness of bacterial culture for etiological diagnosis of complicated skin and soft tissue infections in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.

Family outbreaks of invasive community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection.
TLDR
Investigation of two family clusters of invasive methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection within families found one in which a young mother died of fulminant pneumonia, and such clusters should stimulate reevaluation of preventive measures.
[Community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus].
TLDR
In patients with purulent skin and soft tissue infections, the mainstay of treatment is incision and drainage, and the use of fluoroquinolones should be avoided due to the rapid emergence of resistance.

ABSTRACT Multiple methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) clones carrying type IV staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec were identified in the community-acquired MRSA strains of both the
Emergence and Characterization of Community-Associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphyloccocus aureus Infections in Denmark, 1999 to 2006
TLDR
The results suggest multiple introductions of MRSA as an important source for CA-MRSA infections in Denmark, and clinical and microbiological characteristics indicated that import of MR SA occurs frequently.

TLDR
In this population, the majority of community-acquired MRSA infections occurred in previously healthy individuals without characteristics suggestive of MRSA transmission, and patients from patients with MRSA infection were more likely to be susceptible to ciprofloxacin, clindamycin, and erythromycin than were those from MRSA-colonized patients.
Prevalence of Nasal Colonization Among Patients With Community-Associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Infection and Their Household Contacts
TLDR
The frequency of CA- MRSA colonization among household members of patients with CA-MRSA infections is higher than rates reported among the general population, and among colonized household members, only half of the MRSA strains were related to the patients' infective isolate.

TLDR
The combination of the Panton-Valentine leukocidin determinant with the mecA gene appears to have created a superadapted S. aureus strain that is spreading in the community.
