We have studied the shock-excited molecular regions associated with four supernova remnants (SNRs)—IC443C, W28, W44, and 3C391—and two Herbig-Haro objects—HH7 and HH54—using Spitzer's Infrared Spectrograph (IRS). The physical conditions within the observed areas (roughly ~1' × 1' in size) are inferred from spectroscopic data obtained from IRS and from the Short and Long Wavelength Spectrometers on board the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO), together with photometric data from Spitzer's Infrared… Expand
SPITZER OBSERVATIONS OF SHOCK-EXCITED HYDROGEN DEUTERIDE IN IC 443C, HH 7, AND HH 54: PROBING THE GAS-PHASE DEUTERIUM ABUNDANCE IN THE DENSE INTERSTELLAR MEDIUM
We present and analyze observations?carried out using the Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) on the Spitzer Space Telescope?of the R(3) and R(4) pure rotational lines of hydrogen deuteride (HD) detectedExpand
APEX observations of supernova remnants - I. Non-stationary magnetohydrodynamic shocks in W44
Aims. The interaction of supernova remnants (SNRs) with molecular clouds gives rise to strong molecular emission in the far-IR and sub-mm wavelength regimes. The application of MHD shock models inExpand
AKARI NEAR-INFRARED SPECTRAL OBSERVATIONS OF SHOCKED H2 GAS OF THE SUPERNOVA REMNANT IC 443
We present near-infrared (2.5-5.0 {mu}m) spectra of shocked H{sub 2} gas in the supernova remnant IC 443, obtained with the satellite AKARI. Three shocked clumps-known as B, C, and G-and oneExpand
THE WATER ABUNDANCE BEHIND INTERSTELLAR SHOCKS: RESULTS FROM HERSCHEL/PACS AND SPITZER/IRS OBSERVATIONS OF H2O, CO, AND H2
We have investigated the water abundance in shock-heated molecular gas, making use of Herschel measurements of far-infrared (IR) CO and H{sub 2}O line emissions in combination with SpitzerExpand
Probing magnetohydrodynamic shocks with high-J CO observations: W28F
Context. Observing supernova remnants (SNRs) and modelling the shocks they are associated with is the best way to quantify the energy SNRs re-distribute back into the interstellar medium (ISM). Aims.Expand
Herschel/PACS Spectroscopic Survey of Protostars in Orion: The Origin of Far-infrared CO Emission
We present far-infrared (57-196 μm) spectra of 21 protostars in the Orion molecular clouds. These were obtained with the Photodetector Array Camera and Spectrometer (PACS) on board the Herschel SpaceExpand
Proper Motions and Shock Wave Dynamics in the HH 7-11 Stellar Jet

Hot Molecular Gas in the Circumnuclear Disk
We present an analysis of archival ISO observations of pure-rotational lines of H2 in three pointings in the central 3 parsecs of the Galaxy: toward the Southwest region and Northeast region of theExpand
COLLISIONAL EXCITATION OF FAR-INFRARED LINE EMISSIONS FROM WARM INTERSTELLAR CARBON MONOXIDE (CO)
Motivated by recent observations with Herschel/PACS, and the availability of new rate coefficients for the collisional excitation of CO, the excitation of warm astrophysical CO is revisited with theExpand
C-type shock modelling – the effect of new H2–H collisional rate coefficients
We consider collisional excitation of H2 molecules in C-type shocks propagating in dense molecular clouds. New data on collisional rate coefficients for (de-)excitation of H2 molecule in collisionsExpand
